6th July Katrina & Karl

After finishing in Lybster at 10pm, drove to Inverness, before making the trip to Edinburgh in the morning. Katrina Kerr and Karl Fitzpatrick of Scollon Avenue, Bonnyrigg, were married at the Apex International Hotel in Edinburgh. The wettest day of the year! We went out to the Royal Mile to do some pics but it rained so hard we had to abandon. Post wedding shoot planned for tomorrow though so that'll make up for it.

5th July Emma & Dave

Emma Miller both of Thurso Street, Wick, were married in Wick Old Parish Church, with the reception at the Portland Arms in Lybster. Emma got ready at her parents home before Dunnetts cars took her to church. After the ceremony we went to Latheronwheel Harbour for some pictures.

28th June Elaine & Graham

Achnagairn House, near Inverness was the venue for this wedding. A new wedding venue, which isn't totally finished yet, but looking very nice so far. Elaine and Graham live in Surrey.

21st June Donna and Jamie

Married at St Peters & St Andrews Church, Thurso were Donna Williamson and Jamie Wilson of Jesmond Road, Aberdeen. Donna is from Thurso originally. The bride (eventually) got ready at Forss House Hotel, and it was there we returned to for the pictures after the ceremony. The reception was then in the Weigh Inn Hotel.

I have just been confirmed as a lecturer on the "Wedding Photography Workout" course in June 2009 in Spain. It is being run by Martin Grahame Dunn of Illuminatus, and the course will be run in an 18th century castle - Casa del Conde de Pinofiel in Antequera, Spain between 1st and 5th of June 2009. The 3 lecturers will be Martin, Juli-Ann Cialone from the USA, and myself. For more details on the course click this link ---> course.

If you are thinking about booking onto it, I'd like you to get in touch and let me know your own personal goals and ambitions, and I'd like to know if there is anything specific you'd like me to cover. Get this booked as there is a limit of 30 delegates and some places have gone already!

7th June Fearn Abbey

Today's wedding was at Fearn Abbey, my first time there. It's a beautiful venue. Reception was held in a marquee at Isla's parents home. We had a whole load of fun today with a really cool location I spotted when I visited them a couple of weeks ago. There are many amazing pictures from this shoot, but I'm saving most of them for now :-)

31st May Marianne and Scott

Dornoch Cathedral was the venue today for the wedding of Marianne Durrand and Scott McCue, both from Skinner Place in Dornoch. The reception was held at the Dornoch Castle Hotel. We went to Skelbo Castle to do some loaction pictures.

Caithness Photographic site back up and running!

At long last the site is back working. I had problems getting the domain transferred but it's back to normal now. Anyone who sent e-mails to john@caithnessphotographic.com, I need to apologise as they won't have arrived as the address attached to the website was also out of action.

Wick Academy

I was lucky enough to have no weddings on the last 2 Saturdays of the Highland League season, as this allowed me to cover Academy's games v Deveronvale and Fraserburgh. Academy won both games 3-2 in a great end to the season. Well done to everyone connected to the club for a very good season. The guys running the club now have really transformed things in recent times and I am delighted to be part of it from time to time. It's a great club and I wish them every success for next season. A few images from the Fraserburgh game.

Rory Stone for Mey Selections

Last week I did a shoot with Rory Stone of Highland Fine Cheeses in Tain. He travelled North to a dairy at Sibster, near Wick where we did some images of him, his cheese and some dairy cows. These worked out well, with this being the favourite! Not saying whether the cow liked the cheese or not! :-)

Natalie

Here are a few more tasters from fairly recent shoots with Natalie, all part of an exciting project for 2008. I'm saving the best images for later in the year, but these will give people an idea of what I've been doing. We are really working well together as a team at the moment and I think it shows in the images.

Sunday Times Style

Delighted to see my work featured in today's Sunday Times Style Magazine in their Trash The Dress feature. Delighted to see one of Ami Simpson /Dundas on it as that was 2 years ago, before the Trash The Dress phenomenon had even started. I am quite proud that I was headed in that direction so long ago. Who said we don't set trends up here in Caithness!!

Trash the Dress is a great idea, although I feel it's badly named. A lot of brides are put off by the title, as the dress doesn't actually get trashed (unless you want it to!!). I call mine a 'Post Wedding Fashion Shoot', and these are great fun. One of my favourite photographers, John Michael Cooper was the guy who started the whole thing off in the US and his work is awesome. I've done a fair number of these now, and actually have a few weddings booked further South this year purely on brides seeing the TTD images and wanting to do the same.

Yekaterina & Iain 26th April

Travelled to Monymusk in Aberdeenshire for this one. I have to say this was one of my favourite weddings ever. It was a great day, gorgeous venue, great couple, especially Katia who was really into the whole photography thing!! I really enjoyed the whole day.
Wedding was at Monymusk Church, and I thought Monymusk was really beautiful. Reception was at Craighaar Hotel, Bucksburn.
