Jacqueline & Bruce

Today's wedding was Jacqueline Mackay, formerly from Papigoe near Wick, and Bruce McArthur. The couple are both from Grant Drive Forres. The wedding was at Wick Old Parish Church with the reception at Portland Arms Hotel in Lybster.

It was a poor day, weather-wise. Very windy and heavy rain showers, although there were some nice sunny periods. We went to the funfair first for a few pictures and then headed out to Staxigoe Harbour where we were in danger of getting blown away!! So we then went to Lybster Mains where we got some shelter and finished the job!

12th July Keiss

Todays wedding was at Keiss Church with the reception at Mackay Hotel, Wick.

Louise Harrold who is formerly from Robertson Crescent in Keiss was married to Andrew Blyth. The couple live in Winchburgh, West Lothian now. It was a bit of a strange weather day. Windy, sunny and some dark clouds which threatened rain but it stayed dry for us. We had some fun shooting at Harbour House down at Keiss Harbour. It's a very old building which has been renovated and is now rented out for holidays etc. It's been a stunning restoration job. Really nice place!

11th July Wedding

Married today - Alison Manson, Tannach Road, Haster near Wick and Innes Sutherland, Bardnaclavan Place, Janetstown, Thurso. They were married at the spectacular Dunbeath Castle on a slightly windy but dry day. Reception was at the Weigh Inn, Thurso.

8th July Aberdeen

Travelled up from Edinburgh to Aberdeen for the wedding of Wendy Smith and Sava Tomin.

It was at the Palm Court Hotel on a scorching hot day. Wendy is the mother of photographer Susan Chalk from Peterhead, so she was on hand to keep an eye on me all day (and boss me around). Only joking Susan :-)

What a bunch of posers these guys were!! Ha ha great fun.

After 3 weddings and a trash the dress shoot in 5 days across 800 miles, I was glad to get back up to Thurso!!

7th July Post Wedding Shoot/Trash The Dress

Katrina and Karl had booked the post wedding shoot at the same time as the wedding which worked out good as it was a better day than the wedding day!! Dry and quite warm, so we went off to Hailes Castle, near Haddington. We had a great time and got some real cool images I think. Thanks to Katrina and Karl for being so much fun and being up for lots of crazy ideas. I wasn't supposed to get wet as well though! But did!

6th July Katrina & Karl

After finishing in Lybster at 10pm, drove to Inverness, before making the trip to Edinburgh in the morning. Katrina Kerr and Karl Fitzpatrick of Scollon Avenue, Bonnyrigg, were married at the Apex International Hotel in Edinburgh. The wettest day of the year! We went out to the Royal Mile to do some pics but it rained so hard we had to abandon. Post wedding shoot planned for tomorrow though so that'll make up for it.

5th July Emma & Dave

Emma Miller both of Thurso Street, Wick, were married in Wick Old Parish Church, with the reception at the Portland Arms in Lybster. Emma got ready at her parents home before Dunnetts cars took her to church. After the ceremony we went to Latheronwheel Harbour for some pictures.

28th June Elaine & Graham

Achnagairn House, near Inverness was the venue for this wedding. A new wedding venue, which isn't totally finished yet, but looking very nice so far. Elaine and Graham live in Surrey.

21st June Donna and Jamie

Married at St Peters & St Andrews Church, Thurso were Donna Williamson and Jamie Wilson of Jesmond Road, Aberdeen. Donna is from Thurso originally. The bride (eventually) got ready at Forss House Hotel, and it was there we returned to for the pictures after the ceremony. The reception was then in the Weigh Inn Hotel.

Professional Imagemaker Magazine Cover

Delighted to see my image on the front cover of the June/July issue of Professional Imagemaker magazine! It's the members magazine for the SWPP and BPPA. It's one from the feature I have done on my current project "One Year, One Model".

Spain 2009 Wedding Workout Course

I have just been confirmed as a lecturer on the "Wedding Photography Workout" course in June 2009 in Spain. It is being run by Martin Grahame Dunn of Illuminatus, and the course will be run in an 18th century castle - Casa del Conde de Pinofiel in Antequera, Spain between 1st and 5th of June 2009. 7th June Fearn Abbey

Today's wedding was at Fearn Abbey, my first time there. It's a beautiful venue. Reception was held in a marquee at Isla's parents home. We had a whole load of fun today with a really cool location I spotted when I visited them a couple of weeks ago. There are many amazing pictures from this shoot, but I'm saving most of them for now :-)

31st May Marianne and Scott

Dornoch Cathedral was the venue today for the wedding of Marianne Durrand and Scott McCue, both from Skinner Place in Dornoch. The reception was held at the Dornoch Castle Hotel. We went to Skelbo Castle to do some loaction pictures.

I spent the day shooting various parts of the Ulbster Arms Hotel in Halkirk, for their new website which is coming soon, and advertising products. They really have done a great job of this hotel.

Rebecca & Grant

Rebecca Cowe and Grant Swart were married at St Peters and St Andrews Church in Thurso, with their reception being held in the Weigh Inn Hotel. It was a beautiful day (too sunny!!) and loads of fun. We went to Thurso Castle for the photographs in between Church and Reception.

Caithness Photographic site back up and running!

At long last the site is back working. I had problems getting the domain transferred but it's back to normal now. Anyone who sent e-mails to john@caithnessphotographic.com, I need to apologise as they won't have arrived as the address attached to the website was also out of action.
